A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

The All-Inclusive Resorts of Iberostar

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all tropical destinations temporarily banned international visitors, but many have recently reopened and are again welcoming tourists.

Mexico, one of our most popular all-inclusive destinations, is open now, for example. To see a list of other tropical destinations that are open, click here.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts provides all-inclusive escapes along beautiful beaches in Mexico, the Caribbean and Brazil. The upfront rate includes accommodations, all meals and beverages, taxes, gratuities, non-motorized water sports and extensive recreation and entertainment options.

Click here to see a complete list of Iberostar resorts and to price a stay at any of them, with or without airfare. Our Find a Deal search tool will help you find the best rates for your preferred travel dates.

At family-friendly Iberostar properties, children can play in splash parks or visit the Star Camp, divided into three tiers for ages 4 to 7, 8 to 12 and 13 to 17. Kids take part in a range of recreational and educational activities like reproducing giant works of art, becoming the star of their own video, learning through fun scientific experiments and participating in Olympic-style events. Star Camp is complimentary, as it is part of the all-inclusive rate.

Meanwhile, parents can swim or snorkel, indulge in spa treatments, play a round of golf or lounge by large, sparkling pools. You'll find a variety of on-site dining venues, from casual alfresco restaurants to spots that specialize in Japanese or Italian dishes.

Three Iberostar Grand properties cater to vacationers seeking a no-kids setting and offer all-suite accommodations, butler service and gourmet dining.

In some destinations, several Iberostar hotels are in one complex and vacationers can take advantage of restaurants and other facilities at neighboring properties.

As a leader in responsible tourism, Iberostar's ongoing efforts are focused on creating an unforgettable and safe vacation while also protecting the environment. After consulting with a medical advisory board, the company created an extensive How We Care program with more than 300 new procedures that have been implemented throughout the resorts to amplify privacy and safety for all guests.

For example, rooms are disinfected and cleaned with biodegradable products 24 hours prior to guest check-in, linens and textiles are cleaned through certified processes and new and increased cleaning protocols are in place for common areas. Protective gear is provided to all employees for the safety of guests and staff alike.

Guests will enjoy a highly personalized and private stay. Workshops, activities and live music shows have been restructured to aid with social distancing regulations, and hammocks, lounge chairs and all seated areas have been reorganized to create a more exclusive setting. Family activities are now limited to groups of six.

Resorts also participate in Iberostar's Wave of Change ocean conservation initiative, created to reduce plastic use, promote the responsible consumption of seafood and improve coastal health.
