A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Travel Buddy Puerto Escondido and Oaxaca Mex 12/11-12/28
Hey everyone! I'm traveling to Puerto Escondido then to Oaxaca Dec 11-28. I'm looking for a travel buddy for all of some of the trip. Puerto Escondido is supposed to be great for surfing (I just learned, and it's good for beginners and pros alike, or so I've read). Super excited to bum around the town, do some surfing, meet some locals and other travelers... and hopefully explore the surrounding area. After that I was planning on going to Oaxaca (city)... but am open to going and doing whatever. I just have to be in Oaxaca by the 28th so I can meet my brother. Am actually hitching a ride with him to go see my fam in Campeche (Yucatan), and its possible we may have room for another, so if you had any desire to go to the Yucatan, that may be an option.

I'm easy going, like to explore and go on adventures. Looking for someone semi close to my age, pref female, but male may be okay too.

Msg me for more details! Happy travels to you all :)

Part Two: Mexico

As you’ll see, we’ve been busy. Well by busy, we mean busy travelling Mexico. It is a particularly fine specimen of a country, but I’m sure you already knew that.
Here is Part Two: Mexico
