Oaxaca (February 26, 2025).- Health authorities in Oaxaca issued a health alert after a case of monkeypox (Mpox) was confirmed in a person who participated in the Tenth Nudist Meeting in Zipolite , as well as four additional cases in Mexico City , all linked to said beach festival.
This is a 26-year-old man, who is already receiving medical attention at the General Hospital of Zone 41 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Santa María Huatulco .
The patient presented symptoms such as cephalocaudal rash with characteristics of macules, papules, vesicles and crust, as well as fever, headache, chills, and ulcers.
Although no further cases have been detected at this time, Oaxaca health authorities (SSO) indicated that close surveillance will be maintained in the fixed and mobile medical units of Health Jurisdiction 4 in the coastal region.
The population was urged to resume wearing face masks in closed spaces and to reinforce personal hygiene measures.
