November Mexico Updates 🇲🇽 Los Cabos, Bacalar, & Government Policy Changes!

Hola my Mexico-loving friends! My hair is still stiff with chlorine from my last swim in the pool at Circulo Bacalar as I prepare to board my flight back to Seattle. I have spent the last 7 days at a Mexico-focused travel conference in a town that I haven't visited since 2019. I started and finished my trip in the beautiful Pueblo Magico of Bacalar. If you haven't heard of Bacalar, it's an inland town about two hours south of Tulum. It doesn't have a beach, but it does have one of the most vibrantly blue lagoons that I have ever seen. More incredibly, the town hasn't lost any of the charm that it had when I visited it nearly six years ago (thankfully both my videos and my hairstyle have improved since I made this one). In a state like Quintana Roo where Tulum, Akumal, Playa del Carmen, and Puerto Morelos have expanded enormously in the last decade, it's nice to know that there is still treasure to be found if you head away from the Caribbean Coast. Mexico Content from Eternal Expat Between my trip to Mexico and the work that I am doing to update the Los Cabos guidebook, there wasn't much content over on Eternal Expat this month. Mexico News from Around the Web More and more Maya ruins are being discovered across the Yucatan peninsula as archeologists turn to laser technology to scan the forests, mangroves, and jungles that now cover what was once a network of cities that spread across much of this peninsula until 900 AD. You can read more about it in this article and this article. Mexico's Black Friday, known as Buen Fin in Spanish, takes place a few weeks earlier than in the US. From November 15-18, you will find bargains all over the country, but especially for big-ticket items. If you live in Mexico or have a home here, this is a great weekend to get that new TV, cell phone, or anything else you've been eyeing up before the holidays. The Mexican constitution has been amended in a way that critics believe gives the current party far too much power.
