Day of the Dead events will be held in Puerto Escondido as part of the annual Fiestas de Noviembre, and are intended to help conserve cultural traditions.

Day of the Dead events to maintain cultural traditions

Some events are being planned for Puerto Escondido in November with the intention of protecting and maintaining cultural traditions.
Day of the Dead events will be held in conjunction with the Fiestas de Noviembre in Plaza Marlin, in front of the Hotel Ines, at Playa Zicatela on November 1 and 2. According to information supplied by the Hotel Arcoiris, there will be a competition of altars, another for costumes, a greased pole competition and burro races. Prizes will be awarded to the best altars.
In addition several events are planned for November 2:
• At 7 pm there will be a brief explanation of the Mictlán.
• At 7:15 a Mictlantecutli ceremony will be presented, with dance of the Mexicas.
• At 8 pm musician Oscar Hernández will give a concert of prehispanic instruments, Hacia el Mictlán.
Organizers of the Days of the Dead invite everyone to attend, participate and enjoy the activities on both days starting at 5 pm. Admission is free.
