The underwater sites are just as beautiful as above, and diving is a perfect way to explore that. Some popular destinations are La Entrega, La Montosa, or Risco la Blanca. Archeological Exploration The Copalita Eco-Archeological Park opened in 2010 and is a 36 hectare area with remnants dating back to the first century. The area is inundated with history about the people that called this place home, as far back as 2600 years ago up until the 16th century. Playa Cacaluta The world “cacaluta” comes from the Indian word that means “black eagle”. True to the name of the beach and coastal island, beachgoers will often see the Common Black Hack circling the area. The beach is also famed for being featured in the 2001 movie, Y Tu Mama Tambien.
