I've never stayed there, but have been to the grounds and the beach club. You are about 5-10 minutes away from the Rinconada, a small retail strip with restaurants. It's a bit of a hike (maybe 20 min) into "uptown" where the mercado is. I stay nearby and walk it every day, but I like to walk. Taxis are cheap if you don't.. The Zicatela area (the surfer beach) is where a lot of restaurants and bars are, and you would need a taxi. Same with the Adoquin, the tourist street. Your closest beach for swimming is Carrizalillo (10 min) which also sometimes is okay for snorkeling. Manzanillo is just a little farther and it is also sometimes okay for snorkeling.

Thanks for the info! We like to explore the areas we visit, and this sounds absolutely perfect. Another question - we also like to take 1-2 deep sea fishing trips each trip, and wondered if you know of any local fishermen who we could contact. If Trip Advisor doesn't allow you to post any names, I'll give you our email address.

You can get a lot of info on Fishing guides while you are there, we used a guy who frequents the beach at Carazillilo, his name is Chon (pronounced Shawn) and he was fantastic. Others will give you a name of a very prominent family from PE, I can't remember his name but he is also supposed to be great.
