Chicago to Huatulco Flight in July, 2012
July 2011, flew non-stop both ways- very nice. Planning for return trip- no non-stop flights.
Curious, should I book the layover flights that take 6 times as long, or should I hold off a little, checking occasionally to see if something comes up?

Who can say really? I wait for airfare and travel times I can live with - one stop with maybe a 4 hour layover falls into that category if the price is right. If you keep checking, I imagine you will find something within your own personal comfort zone. July is a long way off, and we usually have more options flying out of Chicago than people from other areas. That said, I think the direct USA 3000 flights will not be coming back.

I personally would wait if you're not going til July. We usually go away in March for spring break, and I have never booked by trip until about a month before. Prices usually have gone down. However, with USA3000 gone and no non-stop flight, Continental's ridiculously high prices, and an 8-hour lay-over inMexico City, Huatulco's not making it easy for us to come back this year. I'm still keeping hope alive but it doesn't look good.
Interestingly, when you go on USA3000's website and click on "where we fly", it appears that there still is a flight to Huatulco. Maybe they just haven't updated their website.

Playmomma, Did you look for a flight out of MKE? We are leaving on 3/22 and have great flight times.

I will have to try that. Who are you flying with and when are you going?
