Return to Puerto Escondido

Sunset serenity in the hidden port
Somehow it always seems like a home-coming as we approach Puerto Escondido. Like a partial recollection of a childhood place, the appearance of the towering Sierra Gigantes and their ape-like peaks has an eidetic  quality to it; a vividness that isn’t quite explained by a toting up of  the obvious elements. Yes, the scenery illuminated by theatric  sunset clouds partially obscuring the sentinels’ gorilla-like heads create a mood.  Add to that the splash of  sailboats anchored about, the  warm  memories of past visits,  and it  completes a recipe for the sentimentality that washes over me.  But there’s something else nagging at me at the edge of my consciousness,  just out of touch.  Something from a forgotten childhood memory or previous lifetime?
Dave and Merry  welcomed our arrival with a terrific meal aboard Air Ops and a game of  hand & foot afterwards.   And  MV The Cat’s Meow afloat in Cocktail Cove and looking better than ever.
Yesterday we attended a meeting of the Hidden Port Yacht Club and watched new officers elected efficiently and enthusiastically.
¡Ay, qué lindo!
