A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

For Abuse of Power, Pochutla Authorities Demand Zipolite Agent by admin | Oct 19, 2017

• In order to prevent the suspension of the work of owners of the Alchemist in litigation, Berenice Diaz will have to face a complaint for abuse of power
• The work does not have an endorsement of Communal Property and lacks a license by municipal authorities

The building where the building is located is in dispute for being located on a valuable portion of the beach.

The illegal construction is almost finished, despite irregularities in possession of the land.
SAN PEDRO POCHUTLA .- In an unusual event in this place, municipal authorities of San Pedro Pochutla filed a complaint against an auxiliary authority, in this case, the representative of the Zipolite agency, Berenice Díaz Gómez, for the crimes of abuse of authority, breach of clocks, and others that are configured.
Derived from the contempt in which Díaz Gómez incurred, who on August 24 prevented the suspension of a work that is carried out in the Roca Blanca colony and does not have a building license, in addition to starting, together with the mayor Antonio García Martínez, the clocks of cloister; authorities determined to act legally for what they say is an obvious abuse of authority.

Challenging municipal officials

According to the lawsuit filed last September 21 before the local Public Prosecutor's Office of San Pedro Pochutla, personnel of the Public Works regiment came to the property, located between the negotiations Alquimista and Shambala, to notify the suspension of the work and place the closing seals, when in an untimely manner, arrived the representative, accompanied by the mayor Antonio Garcia, as well as a group of about 10 subjects, who with a challenging attitude and carrying stones and clubs, began to insult municipal officials.

On August 24, agent Berenice Díaz and her mayor, prevented the suspension of the work, which would be closed due to lack of license.
To the rain of expletives added the agent and its mayor, who after starting without modesty the seals, would have directly challenged to the officials when ordering to the masons of the work not to stop because "they were who they commanded in that place" .

Complaint in progress

To avoid a confrontation, the municipal employees chose to return to their workplace and report the facts to their superiors.
Given this and given the closure of the agent to discuss the matter to reach an agreement, the mayor Víctor Cruz Vásquez, through the councilman of Public Works, Heriberto Jacinto Juárez, filed the complaint, which was ratified, and which a research file already exists.
In the coming days, as confirmed by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Coast, Alejandro Peña Diaz, will be carried out the corresponding proceedings to the case, among which is an ocular inspection of the work, which despite being in agrarian litigation, completed.

For decades, Gloria Johnson owns the shambala huts and ceremonial center.

The twisted background frame

The demand for the Zipolite representative is only part of the plot that has been woven for several months, in which entrepreneurs of Argentine origin, owners of the El Alquimista negotiation, intend to seize a property owned by Gloria Johnson, a pioneer of Zipolite and owner of the mythical Shambala huts.
The litigation of the property is derived from a rigged sale of the property from a former worker of Gloria Johnson, Juan Martinez, who, based on tricks, sold Daniel Gustavo Cohen Sabban, partner of The Alchemist, a valuable plot of approximately thousand meters, property of the first one.

For several months the building property is in agrarian and criminal litigation.

Entrepreneurs bent on breaking the law

Knowing that it should not be built on a property in litigation, and this was advised by the Commissariat of Communal Goods and the municipal authority to the businessmen, where Marcelo Barbas Larrarte and Juan Carlos Malazzo Muti are also told; it seemed to them that they did not mind violating the law, and supported by Berenice Diaz, in their capacity as agent, continued with the work, with the consequences that are now known.
There are very rare cases in which municipal authorities lodge complaints against their auxiliary authorities; according to Deputy Prosecutor Alejandro Peña, in the region there had only been one case in which the municipality of San Pedro Tututepec sued the auxiliary authority of Rio Grande, so the case of Pochutla becomes one of the few exceptions.
