A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

About this listing

I have a small cinema. I live in the room up front and we share the bathroom. You are welcome to watch the movies in the evening when they are playing. You are welcome to hang out in the courtyard and even use the kitchen during the day. Just keep it neat and tidy. Put things back the way they were when you found them. You can hear the waves from where we are just over a block from the beach and the main street.
The space
We are very secure here. Two couples is the max. You do have a small fridge in your room. The movie or Karaoke is done by midnight.
Guest access
You will have noticed we don't have hot water. It is so hot most of the time you don't need it. If you really want the water warmer, the middle of the afternoon is a good time. The only limited access is during the movie please do not use the kitchen.
Interaction with guests
As I live on site we will probably see each other every day. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have. I have a small dog and two cats that are friendly.

Must climb stairs - One flight. Rooms are in the second floor.
Potential for noise - It is a main street. Mostly during the day. Evening the local dogs could be barking.
Pet(s) live on property - One Daschund size dog and my two personal cats. Another friendly one wanders around as well.
No parking on property - I car can park in the courtyard most times. Confirm before hand. There is street parking as well. During peak season parking is more challenging.
Some spaces are shared - The toilet, shower, and kitchen/open spaces. Wi-Fi, is intended for the cinema so it is shared with minimal use expected. Not for Netflix viewing, etc
Amenity limitations - Wi-Fi may be weak, or even unavailable. No hot water. No kitchen use during cinema hours, usually 6 pm to midnight. This is not year round or every ni
