A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

WAYAK Beachhouse - A/C Marlin Suite

About this listing

Enjoy this peaceful room surrounded by nature just a thirty second walk to the beach. Room comes with lounge area, hammock, cold A/C, wifi, and our favorite: our big garden with lots of flowers, cacti & even a few chickens running around.

Description
The space
This house has an excellent location only a 30 second's walk to the beach. We are surrounded by great restaurants, a beautiful lookout point, and "downtown" Zipolite all within a few minute's walking distance. The house sits right in the middle of a big garden.
Guest access
The house is split up into two stories. As a guest, the second floor is your domain! Enjoy the wifi on a hammock in the lounge area. Enjoy the upstairs patio area with a cold beer at sunset. Check out our catcti garden or chicken coop with a cup of coffee in the morning. There are sitting areas around the garden that you are most welcome to enjoy.
Interaction with guests
We are so happy to welcome you! We'll usually be around all morning and afternoon working on the garden and have many recommendations to help you enjoy your experience in Zipolite.
The neighborhood
Although we are a few minutes from many restaurants and the main street of Zipolite, we live in a quiet part of town.
Getting around
If you feel like exploring, it is certainly easy to get around in public transportation around here. The "camionetas" and "collectivo" taxis are just a few minute's walk and they take you to the next beach for around 10 pesos. However, these fares are only good until 7 pm or so. Afterwards they stop circulating, but don't worry there are always private taxis available.
Other things to note
Not only is this a relaxed beach house, we also have all the gear and connections you need to take advantage of all Zipolite has to offer. At the house you can rent boogie boards, snorkel gear, harpoons and more. Interested in going dolphin and turtle watching, see all the hidden beaches and enjoy lobster on the beach? Let us know and we'll arrange your trip!
