A little about Playa Zipolite, The Beach of the Dead . . .

Playa Zipolite, Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, on the Pacific Ocean. A little bit about my favorite little get-away on this small world of ours.

Zipolite, a sweaty 30-minute walk west from Puerto Angel, brings you to Playa Zipolite and another world. The feeling here is 1970's - Led Zep, Marley, and scruffy gringos.

A long, long time ago, Zipolite beach was usually visited by the Zapotecans...who made it a magical place. They came to visit Zipolite to meditate, or just to rest.

Recently, this beach has begun to receive day-trippers from Puerto Angel and Puerto Escondido, giving it a more TOURISTY feel than before.

Most people come here for the novelty of the nude beach, yoga, turtles, seafood, surf, meditation, vegetarians, discos, party, to get burnt by the sun, or to see how long they can stretch their skinny budget.

I post WWW Oaxaca, Mexico, Zipolite and areas nearby information. Also general budget, backpacker, surfer, off the beaten path, Mexico and beyond, information.

REMEMBER: Everyone is welcome at Zipolite.

Comfortable room in family home

About this listing

You'll be comfortable and safe in your room at our family home. The space is private and has access to 2 shared bathrooms. You have a double bed, a hammock and you can use the beautiful screened in patio upstairs. A 5 minute walk to Zipolite beach.
The space
Our house has all the basics for a home in this area and we think you'll be very comfortable in your room. Please note that we don't have hot water but usually a cool shower feels better anyway. Also, the room doesn't have air-conditioning but stays very cool due to the high ceilings and shade around the house. Tambien se habla español.
Interaction with guests
We're a little busy as we both work, but we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about our house or the area.
Getting around
Our house is in a great location. We are very close to Roca Blanca and the beach (5 min walk). From our house, you can also catch the shared taxis (collectivos) which go to San Agustinillo, Mazunte and San Antonio.
Other things to note
If you are a sensitive sleeper, please bring your earplugs as our neighbor has a lot of roosters.
